Cationic Porphyrin Induced a Telomeric DNA to G-Quadruplex Form in Water

The formation of the DNA G-quadruplex is induced by the addition of a novel porphyrin carrying four cationic tethers. Circular dichroism spectroscopy reveals that the porphyrin binds to Tetrahymena telomeric repeat to form G-quadruplex under stabilizing-cation-deficient and no buffer conditions.

A cationic Zn(II) porphyrazine induces a stable parallel G-quadruplex conformation in human telomeric DNA.

A water soluble Zn(II) porphyrazine drives the conformational equilibrium of the G-quadruplex of a human telomeric sequence exclusively towards a parallel conformation upon complexation.

The influence of G-quadruplex structure on DNA-based asymmetric catalysis using the G-quadruplex-bound cationic porphyrin TMPyP4·Cu.

The DNA G-quadruplex-binding porphyrin TMPyP4·Cu was found to form efficient hybrid catalysts for DNA-based asymmetric catalysis when bound to DNA G-quadruplexes. Nucleobase substitution experiments using human telomere-derived G-quadruplex sequences suggest binding of the porphyrin on the 3'-face.

Identification of novel interactors of human telomeric G-quadruplex DNA.

A chemoproteomic-driven approach was used to investigate the interaction network between human telomeric G-quadruplex DNA and nuclear proteins. We identified novel G-quadruplex binding partners, able to recognize these DNA structures at chromosome ends, suggesting a possible, and so far unknown, role of these proteins in telomere functions.

Chiral metallohelices enantioselectively target hybrid human telomeric G-quadruplex DNA

The design and synthesis of metal complexes that can specifically target DNA secondary structure has attracted considerable attention. Chiral metallosupramolecular complexes (e.g. helicates) in particular display unique DNA-binding behavior, however until recently few examples which are both water-compatible and enantiomerically pure have been reported. Herein we report that one metallohelix en...
